Election of ICJ Judges (Third Ballot)

On the third ballot, again none of the remaining candidates received an absolute majority of votes (97) in the General Assembly. Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf (Somalia) received 90 votes; Miriam Defensor-Santiago (Philippines) received 67 votes; Maurice Kamto (Cameroon) received 29 votes; and Sayeman Bula-Bula (Democratic Republic of the Congo) received 2 votes. Following the third ballot, the Democratic Republic of the Congo withdrew Sayeman Bula-Bula's candidacy. A fourth ballot will now be conducted.
